Canlubang (North)

Canlubang was built in the transition between the classic golf courses and the new and modern designs. It was one of the first golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr  in the Philippines in the late 1970s.

Situated on wide-open, rolling terrain  in the western edge of Laguna, Canlubang Golf was markedly different from the tree-lined old courses in and around MetroManila. The often windswept North and South Courses then gave golfers of that era a taste of how the elements could really complicate the game of golf.

“It was a perfect site.” Jones Jr reportedly said, “I really only had to find out where the tees and greens went. Everything else just fell into place.”

The North course is considered more challenging and sophisticated than its sister course. It was built on gentler terrain but there is a lot of subtleties on its greens and bunkering that every golfer will have to keep in mind if he wants to score well on this course.

Canlubang North has been the host of a lot of big tournaments both Amateur and Professional. It has carved a niche in Philippine golf as one of the favorites to play if you want a true test of golf.
